RE-ORG is an ICCROM-UNESCO initiative to help museums, galleries, historical houses and community archives regain control of their collection storage. In 2011, the Canadian Conservation Institute and a storage task force of 15 professionals from 15 countries helped designed the method to be a step-by-step storage analysis, planning, and execution. Since then, the project has been successfully implemented in 27 countries and in over 100 museums via hands-on workshops, mentor sessions, online training, and project deployment.
In 2019, the first documented RE-ORG project in Australia was implemented at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (NSW), led by student conservator and SC@M President Dan Schwartz. Based on the project’s success, we are launching the long-term SC@M RE-ORG Initiative – and your collection storage could be next!
A Grimwade Centre + SC@M collaboration, we’re calling out for projects large or small for conservation students to work on. To pitch your project, or for more information, please register your interest below. We are currently accepting Expressions of Interests for institutions that’s are able to host a project in 2019-2020. If you are a conservator or in an allied profession and wish to get involved, please contact us directly through the ‘Say Hello’ portal at the top of the page.
There is a small administration fee of $50 associated with the successful application to the initiative, due upon project approval.
